This movement began with Annie, a concerned grandmother who wanted her pregnant daughter to feel safe in her own community. During a moment when her daughter needed a sheriff escort, none were available. There were no deputies free to respond. Pierce County did not have enough officers on duty.
That experience pushed Annie to start asking questions. The more she learned, the worse it became. Pierce County has the lowest number of officers per capita of any county or jurisdiction in America. Residents pay billions in taxes every year, yet the people who protect our families are stretched too thin to answer the calls that matter most.
Annie refused to stay quiet. She paid for a public awareness commercial out of her own pocket and shared it across the county. She began speaking on podcasts, radio shows, and even national programs to raise attention to what is happening here. Her message reached thousands of people who realized they were not alone. Others had faced long response times, unresolved crime, and a growing sense that public safety was slipping away.
This movement grew from that moment. It began with one grandmother who wanted her family to be safe and turned into a countywide effort to improve public safety for everyone.
Our goals are simple and clear:
• Bring attention to the public safety staffing crisis
• Provide accurate information that anyone can understand
• Create a place where residents can share their experiences
• Support reasonable, practical staffing solutions
• Help build a safer Pierce County for all families
Annie began this work because she saw what was happening and knew someone had to speak up. Now the entire community is joining her.
